Metamorphosis

Did this for a project for technical drawing class about two years ago.
One of my all-time favorite pieces. We had to choose two objects that weren't related in texture, shape, or subject and somehow draw it as it morphed into the other form.

We had to incorporate a variety of line techniques: stippling, crosshatching, and linear, fluctuating between tonal value and the pressure of the ink flow.

I tend to be a masochist and go for the jugular on this. My teacher loved me, but feared for my sanity only because I chose such hard subjects

I couldn't help it I tell you!!!

I miss that class... *sigh*

Actual size: 5 x 5 card stock

Pen & Ink: Indian / Faber Castell / Micron (I tend to use a lot of different pens and inks when doing things like this. Whichever gives me the richest black for the shaded areas)
